We want to give everyone a heads up that the recent budget cuts have really been hurting our office in how much the office is open. Effective immediately, we will be attempting to keep the office open as closely as possible to the scheduled 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. hours, but due to lack of staff, we will sometimes need to close for appointments, meetings, and more.

The best thing you can do if you plan to visit is call ahead to 608-685-6290 and make sure someone will be available. Feel free to leave a message on the answering machine if needed, and we are always looking for responsible volunteers to help us out if that would be a possibility! We will also try to post on our Facebook page when we know we can’t be open.

The Buffalo County Historical Society is working to be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to Noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. except for the days that Buffalo County has designated as holidays. If you are unable to visit during office hours, feel free to check on the possibility of scheduling an appointment with our staff or a volunteer.
